WESTERN ELECTRIC COMPANY was an American electrical engineering and manufacturing company officially founded in 1869. Regarding Valves, it is certainly among the first, if not the first, manufacturer of this component. It has been the main equipment manufacturer, supplier and purchasing agent for the Bell system and all major US civil and military entities as well as worldwide. The company has been responsible for many technological innovations and developments in industrial management. Among the endless collaborations of the highest level, absolutely noteworthy is, in 1960, the assignment by NASA for the engineering and construction of a tracking system for the Project Mercury program. To this day Western Electric valves are considered among the best ever.
